About The Position

The Parts Coordinator oversees parts ordering, receiving, cataloging, inventory, and reconciliation at a single location. The role also processes purchase orders and vendor payment requests, ensuring the correct parts are purchased from the appropriate vendors and that inventory levels help maximize customer uptime. The position is based at Ryder’s shop in Chesapeake, Virginia, and works Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It is safety-sensitive and may involve visiting the shop, wearing safety shoes, and operating a pallet jack.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Parts inventory experience in automotive parts, heavy-duty truck parts, or heavy-duty equipment parts.
Advanced computer skills, including spreadsheet and word-processing software.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail and strong follow-up practices.
Ability to maintain accurate, up-to-date records and logs and to record, itemize, collate, and tabulate data.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and persuade internal and external contacts.
Adherence to Ryder’s safety standards.

Nice To Haves

Two or more years of experience in inventory and parts administration or clerical functions.

Responsibilities

Manage parts inventory processes, including physical inventory, ordering, receiving, coordinating parts pickup and delivery, and stocking inventory.
Process invoices.
Maintain inventory records and statistics, including minimum and maximum inventory levels.
Order supplies and maintain inventory counts.
Manage parts obsolescence.
Ship warranty items and parts returns to vendors.
Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the parts room.
Perform other duties as assigned.
