About The Position

As an Auto Parts Associate at CarMax, you support the service department by ensuring technicians and other customers receive the parts they need to service vehicles. The role involves managing inventory, identifying parts, processing shipments and returns, controlling supplies, and maintaining accurate documentation and compliance. It also requires providing strong customer service and keeping the work area clean and orderly in a fast-paced environment.

The hourly rate is $17.00–$27.20. Eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive associates may accrue up to 48 hours of sick time annually and receive 80–200 hours of vacation annually after a 90-day waiting period, depending on continuous service. They also receive pay for six scheduled holidays and one floating holiday; eligible associates who work a scheduled holiday for business needs receive holiday premium pay. Full-time salaried associates receive paid time away as needed, subject to manager approval.

Requirements

• Ability to read, interpret, and accurately record inventory and transaction data.
• Intermediate PC skills, including spreadsheet proficiency.
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively across departments.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on one’s feet for extended periods.
• Effective verbal communication skills for customer and team interactions.
• Completion of CarMax-provided training in all parts processes.

Responsibilities

• Identify and provide accurate parts for internal and external customers to support timely vehicle service.
• Receive, stock, and maintain inventory, including cycle counts and appropriate stocking levels.
• Process shipments and returns, including incorrect or defective parts, while ensuring vendor compliance.
• Control supplies to reduce waste and maintain cost efficiency.
• Allocate parts using CarMax systems and maintain accurate documentation.
• Provide customer service through clear communication and problem-solving.
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
