About The Position

At Liberis, our mission is to empower small and medium-sized businesses by removing finance as a friction to growth, delivering contextual, embedded financial solutions to support merchants at every stage of their business lifecycle. The team is responsible for finding and signing Liberis’ partners of the future. They manage opportunities across the full business development lifecycle, from identifying the right prospects through to signing agreements and supporting new partners as they prepare to launch. The role's primary focus is helping Liberis secure new partnerships. This is a varied role with the opportunity to take full ownership of partnership opportunities while contributing to some of our largest and most complex global deals. The individual will work with prospective partners and colleagues across Commercial, Product, Technology, Operations, Finance, Legal and Risk.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years experience in business development, partnerships or a related commercial role
  • Some exposure to complex B2B deal cycles
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to exercise good commercial judgement
  • Ability to implement structure to opportunities involving several internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop a strong understanding of our products, platform and financial solutions, as well as the markets in which we operate
  • Naturally curious and able to get to grips with new business models and unfamiliar topics quickly
  • Ability to build rapport with a wide range of people, both internally and externally
  • Comfortable working across different business functions and communicating with stakeholders at different levels of an organization
  • Good commercial instincts and can identify what matters in a potential partnership
  • Ability to understand different commercial models, contribute to negotiations and balance the needs of Liberis with those of the partner
  • Ability to bring structure to complex and sometimes ambiguous deal cycles
  • Organized, reliable and able to manage several workstreams while maintaining attention to detail
  • Takes individual accountability and follows through on commitments
  • Comfortable working in an environment where not every answer is immediately clear
  • Approaches problems in a structured and practical way
  • Naturally curious and keen to learn
  • Communicates clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing
  • Enjoys working collaboratively but is equally comfortable taking ownership

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and qualifying potential partners
  • Building relationships and leading early-stage conversations
  • Shaping the scope of each partnership and helping define the product and proposition
  • Developing commercial proposals and negotiating partnership agreements
  • Working with teams across Liberis to support onboarding and launch
  • Shaping, owning and progressing partnership opportunities from initial conversation through to agreement
  • Researching and qualifying opportunities within the early-stage pipeline
  • Building strong relationships with prospective partners and understanding their priorities
  • Helping to define the scope, product and commercial proposition for new partnerships
  • Producing high-quality partner materials, including presentations, proposals and commercial models
  • Supporting proposals, negotiations and deal cycles for global enterprise opportunities
  • Coordinating internal teams and maintaining momentum throughout the deal process
  • Supporting the handover and onboarding of new partners ahead of launch
  • Representing Liberis at relevant industry events and using them to develop new opportunities
  • Contributing to best practice and improving how the Business Development team operates
