Partner Acquisition Lead - Transportation

Engine
$220,000 - $250,000Hybrid

About The Position

Engine is seeking a strategic and financially-minded business development leader to architect and execute its go-to-market strategy within the transportation and trucking vertical. This role will focus on developing and acquiring partnerships across fleet payments, transportation management systems (TMS), telematics, and fuel networks. The goal is to leverage existing relationships and build new ones to reach hundreds of thousands of fleets, owner-operators, and professional drivers. This is a strategic position requiring a deep understanding of the trucking and fleet ecosystem, strong relationship-building skills with executive stakeholders, and the ability to create scalable, multi-million dollar revenue streams. The role involves developing and executing partnership acquisition strategies, sourcing and negotiating complex agreements, cultivating executive relationships, onboarding new partners, collaborating with internal teams, and tracking key performance indicators.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of experience in enterprise sales or business development, with a proven track record of selling SaaS, fintech, or technology solutions
  • Mastery of the "one-to-many" sales motion, with demonstrated success in structuring partnerships that scale through a partner's network, portfolio, or member base.
  • Exceptional financial acumen and the ability to build a compelling, data-driven business case focused on ROI, operational efficiency, and value creation for both the partner and their end customer.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and close deals with C-suite executives and senior partnership leaders at large, complex organizations.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, with a bias for action and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience selling into transportation, trucking, logistics, or fleet operators — or into the platforms that serve them (TMS, fleet cards, telematics, ELD, factoring).
  • Deep familiarity with the trucking and fleet ecosystem, including how carriers, owner-operators, brokers, and shippers actually run their business, and where lodging fits in the driver and dispatcher workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the partnership acquisition strategy for the transportation vertical, identifying and prioritizing key players across fleet payment and fuel networks, TMS and dispatch platforms (e.g. Trimble, PCS Software, McLeod), telematics and ELD providers, and industry associations (e.g. ATA, OOIDA, TCA).
  • Source, negotiate, and close complex partnership agreements with enterprise-level organizations that drive significant new business and revenue for Engine by leveraging their fleet portfolios, carrier networks, or member bases.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key executive stakeholders during partner acquisition and onboarding processes, including C-suite leaders and partnership executives at target organizations, building long-term alignment and mutual success.
  • Successfully onboard new partners in collaboration with Partner Success, Partner Marketing, and Partner Programs, driving post-signing momentum (partner referred deals).
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Product, and Operations, to launch and support new partnerships — including integration work with TMS and fleet payment platforms where required.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the transportation partnerships program, providing regular reporting to leadership. This includes the number and opportunity size of active partner opportunities in the pipeline, number of signed partners, and revenue generated from newly signed partners.

Benefits

  • Competitive base pay tied to role and experience
  • Equity for all employees
  • Bonuses or commissions (for some roles)
  • Hybrid-hub model (offices or fully remote)
