About The Position

The City of Winchester is seeking a Part-Time Transit Operator to operate non-CDL passenger vehicles. This role involves memorizing routes, transfer points, and fare structures, performing pre-trip inspections, and ensuring passenger safety. The operator will also provide information to passengers and assist individuals with disabilities using the wheelchair lift.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent
• Valid Driver's license
• General knowledge of City traffic rules and regulations
• Willing to participate in random drug and alcohol screens in accordance with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Drug and Alcohol regulations

Responsibilities

• Operate non-CDL passenger vehicles
• Memorize routes, transfer points, and fare structures of all fixed-route bus lines and Paratransit
• Perform a complete pre-trip/post-trip inspection of bus
• Understand and follow all safety rules
• Provide schedule, route, and fare information to passengers seeking assistance
• Operate wheelchair lift and assist individuals with disabilities in boarding, riding, and alighting in a safe manner
• Other duties as assigned
