The Part-Time Tax Manager will communicate with clients to understand their tax situations and assist with tax compliance and planning. The primary focus will be managing a portfolio of individual and trust tax clients, especially around tax deadlines, while delivering exceptional client service and acting as a year-round point of contact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance or other relevant degree program
  • CPA license required
  • Significant experience preparing and reviewing individual and trust tax returns
  • Strong client relationship management skills with the ability to work directly with clients, understand their needs, and provide exceptional service
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to multi-task with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to meet assigned deadlines in a fast-paced, team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Five to seven years of public accounting experience

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to professional ethics of the firm and AICPA.
  • Adhere to firm policy regarding client confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate professional interest in providing clients with quality services and personal attention by performing “above and beyond the call of duty” if necessary.
  • Assist in handling routine questions and audits from federal or state agencies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, proactively managing client relationships, addressing client needs, and providing timely communication throughout the engagement process.
  • Provide clients with timely top-quality service by instilling a service commitment in associates and seniors and providing adequate direct supervision at all stages of the engagement.
  • Advise clients on the tax implications of their business objectives and recommend alternate courses of action.
  • Successfully manage the planning, administration, and conclusion of client engagements.
  • Perform primary review of tax returns and written tax advice as requested.
  • Review tax law developments and determine which developments apply to clients.
  • Recognize potential technical tax issues and work with partners, client service team members, and firm experts for timely resolution.
  • Identify and bring potential high-risk engagement issues to the partner’s attention.
  • Meet chargeable hour goal.
  • Foster a team environment within the department and firm.
  • Act as a mentor and role model for staff.
