About The Position

Fanshawe College is seeking experienced law enforcement professionals to join our team as part-time Professors in the School of Public Safety. Reporting to the Program Manager, part-time Professors at Fanshawe College are responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment for students. In this role, you’ll bring your real-world experience into the classroom, delivering engaging, practical learning experiences and supporting student success in a dynamic post-secondary environment. Availability for in-person on campus delivery is required for most courses, and successful candidates will be required to perform work within Ontario. We require qualified faculty to teach across the following areas: Protection, Security and Investigation (PSI) program and Police Foundations (PFT) program.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field of study
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working for the Canada Border Services Agency
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent (within the last two years) experience in the field of law enforcement, such as policing, corrections, customs, municipal by-law enforcement, MTO enforcement, and/or security practices
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners
  • Strong technical/computer skills and familiarity with educational technologies

Nice To Haves

  • A Master’s degree in a related field and/or a Bachelor of Education or Master of Education
  • Valid license to work as a security guard and/or private investigator in Ontario
  • Teaching experience with hybrid and/or online delivery preferred
  • Related industry work experience
  • Previous college teaching experience
  • Knowledge of curriculum design and student evaluations
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the challenges faced by diverse student groups
