About The Position

Akido is seeking a Part-Time Physician (MD or DO) for a unique role focused on preventive and lifestyle medicine for independent drivers in New York City. This position is part of the Worker Healthy Living Program (WHLP), a collaboration with the Independent Drivers Guild and the Workers Benefit Fund (WBF). The program aims to help drivers live healthier, longer lives through a focus on food, movement, sleep, stress management, and community. This role blends clinical care with program design, patient connection, and health education. You will be part of a collaborative care team, leading and supporting shared medical visits, guiding patients through lifestyle medicine programs, and providing clinical leadership for group-based care. Beyond direct patient care, you will contribute to shaping the program's operations, refining workflows, advising on clinical protocols, and co-creating a supportive system for both patients and providers. The role utilizes Akido's AI-powered platform to reduce administrative burden and enhance patient care. Telehealth is a core component, with up to 2 days per week of remote work possible, offering flexibility. This is an early-stage opportunity with significant ownership in building and growing the program, ideal for someone energized by ambiguity and experimentation. The program is designed to prevent and manage chronic conditions like obesity, pre-diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia, addressing both physical and psychosocial health drivers. This is an opportunity to reimagine primary care for underserved communities.
