About The Position

Unparalleled Preparatory Academy (UPA) is seeking an energetic and passionate Part-Time Music Teacher (Contractor) to build a strong foundation for its middle school music program. This individual will teach two sections of 7th Grade Music (120 minutes daily) and develop beginning instrumental music skills through an after-school band program. The ideal candidate understands that music builds confidence, discipline, teamwork, creativity, and leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in Education, Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.
• Ability to teach beginning instrumental music.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Nice To Haves

• Experience teaching music to middle school-aged students.
• Experience directing beginning band programs.
• Experience working in charter schools or Title I schools.

Responsibilities

• Teach two sections of 7th Grade Music each instructional day.
• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons.
• Introduce students to music theory, rhythm, notation, instrumental performance, and music appreciation.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
• Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment.
• Organize and lead band rehearsals one to two times per week.
• Prepare students for school performances and community events.
• Assist with selecting music and organizing performances throughout the school year.
• Foster student commitment and enthusiasm for participation in band.
• Build meaningful relationships with students.
• Encourage student creativity, confidence, and collaboration.
• Communicate student progress with families as needed.
• Attend required staff meetings, professional development, and school events related to assigned responsibilities.
• Maintain accurate attendance and grade records.
• Collaborate with teachers and school leadership.
• Perform other music-related duties reasonably assigned by administration.

• This is a 1099 independent contractor position and does not include employee benefits.
• The contractor is responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local taxes and is not eligible for employee benefits, retirement contributions, paid leave, or other employment-related benefits.
