About The Position

California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is seeking part-time lecturers for the Department of Geological Sciences. Part-time lecturers are responsible for teaching assigned courses, including all class sessions, in the assigned modality. They are expected to be available to students outside of scheduled class sessions for instruction-related discussions and to make course materials available on Canvas. Additionally, part-time faculty are responsible for assessing student work and assigning course grades. The department offers introductory geology, general education courses, and upper-division general education courses, which may be taught in-person, online, or hybrid formats.

Requirements

Master’s Degree in hand by time of appointment, or commensurate experience as determined by the department.
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

Nice To Haves

Ph.D. in Geology or closely related field.
College-level teaching experience.

Responsibilities

Teaching all assigned class sessions according to the semester schedule and in the modality assigned to the course.
Being available to students outside of scheduled class sessions for discussion of matters related to instruction.
Making course materials available on Canvas.
Assessing student work and assigning course grades.
Teaching introductory geology and general education courses, including laboratory and lecture classes.
