About The Position

The Department of African American Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer pool. We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student centered to teach in the following subject areas: African American Culture, African American History, African American Literature, and Ethnic Studies. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

Requirements

• Hold at least a Master’s degree in African American Studies, Ethnic Studies, or a related field.
• Demonstrate ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
• Be available on very short notice.
• Disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years (only after meeting minimum qualifications and before an offer is extended).
• Sign a release form authorizing the release of information by current and/or former employers concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct (if reaching the final stages of the application process).

Responsibilities

• Teach in the subject areas of African American Culture, African American History, African American Literature, and Ethnic Studies.
• Be available on very short notice for potential appointments.
• Undergo regular performance evaluations by the department.
• Potentially have syllabi, assignments, and reading material reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
