About The Position

The Department of American Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool. We are seeking experienced, well-organized, and student-centered individuals to teach in the following subject areas: American Studies 101-Questioning America, American Studies 201-Introduction to American Studies, American Studies 300-Intro to American Popular Culture, American Studies 301-American Experiences, American Studies 324-American Immigration Culture, American Studies 332-Science and Modern American, American Studies 345-The American Dream, American Studies 395-California Culture. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

Requirements

  • Ph.D., ABD or M.A. in American Studies or related field.
  • Complete online application.
  • Cover Letter which includes a statement of which courses qualified to teach.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Copy of your unofficial transcripts conferring your highest terminal degree.
  • A list of three (3) references with contact information.
  • Inclusive Excellence Statement.
  • Sample of course syllabi.
  • Teaching Evaluations (if available).
  • Three letters of recommendation (required before official hire).
  • Official transcripts from the institution’s Registrar’s office (required before official hire).
  • Satisfactory background check.
  • Compliance with CANRA as a mandated reporter.
  • Disclosure of any final administrative or judicial decision determining commission of sexual harassment within the last 7 years (if applicable, after meeting minimum qualifications and before offer).
  • Sign a release form authorizing the release of information from current and/or former employers concerning any substantial allegation of misconduct (if reaching final stages).

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in American Studies, including American Studies 101, 201, 300, 301, 324, 332, 345, and 395.
  • Be available on very short notice for temporary appointments.
  • Participate in performance evaluations.
  • Potentially have syllabi, assignments, and reading materials reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
