About The Position

The Department of African American Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer pool. We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student-centered to teach in the following subject areas: African American Culture, African American History, African American Literature, and Ethnic Studies. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

Requirements

  • Hold at least a Master’s degree in African American Studies, Ethnic Studies, or a related field.
  • Demonstrate ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
  • Submit a complete online application.
  • Provide a Cover Letter which includes a statement of which courses qualified to teach.
  • Provide a Curriculum Vitae.
  • Provide a Copy of unofficial transcripts conferring your highest terminal degree.
  • Provide a list of three (3) references with contact information.
  • Provide an Inclusive Excellence Statement.
  • Provide a Sample of course syllabi.
  • Provide Teaching Evaluations (if available).
  • Be available for a background check.
  • Disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years.
  • Sign a release form authorizing the release of information by current and/or former employers to the CSU concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct (if reaching final stages).

Responsibilities

  • Teach in the subject areas of African American Culture, African American History, African American Literature, and Ethnic Studies.
  • Be available on very short notice for potential appointments.
  • Participate in regular performance evaluations.
  • Undergo review of syllabi, assignments, and reading material by the departmental personnel committee in some instances.
