About The Position

The Department of Computer Science at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool. We welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about teaching and student-centered to teach in various subject areas including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Web or Mobile Application Programming, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, High Performance Computing, Computer Graphics, Computer Networks, Machine Intelligence, Bioinformatics, Programming Languages and Compilers, Algorithms, Operating Systems, and Software Engineering. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

Requirements

  • MS degree in computer science or closely related field, OR BS degree in computer science or closely related field with at least 5 years industry experience in computer science field.
  • Demonstrable experience in the appropriate field.
  • Proficiency in online teaching strategies.
  • Prior teaching experience at the university level.
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse student population, including first-generation college students.
  • Must be available on very short notice.

Nice To Haves

  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field.
  • Significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Relevant work experience.
  • Professional capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the Department of Computer Science in subject areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Web or Mobile Application Programming, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, High Performance Computing, Computer Graphics, Computer Networks, Machine Intelligence, Bioinformatics, Programming Languages and Compilers, Algorithms, Operating Systems, and Software Engineering.
  • Be available on very short notice for temporary appointments.
  • Participate in performance evaluations.
  • Potentially have syllabi, assignments, and reading material reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
