About The Position

The College of Arts and Letters (CAL) at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is seeking applications for a part-time lecturer with expertise in digital humanities, immersive media, and virtual reality. The successful candidate will teach courses in areas such as digital humanities, immersive storytelling (virtual reality, mixed reality, augmented reality, 360-degree video), and related emerging technologies. Requirements

  • Master of Arts/Master of Fine Arts degree in Communication Studies, Art History, English, Design, Information Science, or a suitably related discipline.
  • Familiarity with immersive media formats, including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and/or mixed reality (XR).
  • Demonstration of teaching experience at higher education level.
  • Ability to teach at the intersection of theory and practice, introducing foundational concepts to students with varying levels of prior experience.
  • Compliance with the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act as a mandated reporter.
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in Communication Studies or a related field.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation.
  • Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one or more sections of courses related to digital technologies, with a focus on scholarship and creative practice in the arts and humanities, immersive and interactive media, and virtual reality.
  • Prepare course materials.
  • Mentor students on course projects.
  • Teach assigned courses.
  • Evaluate student coursework.
  • Grade assignments.
  • Hold regular, weekly office hours according to university guidelines.
  • Demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.
  • Work effectively with faculty, staff, and students.

Benefits

  • Salary is commensurate with experience. (Actual Salary will be in accordance with percentage of time appointed)

  • Lecturer B (Range 3) - $6,221 – $13,224
  • Lecturer C (Range 4) - $6,825 – $14,523
  • Lecturer D (Range 5) - $8,593 – $15,211
