About The Position

California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is seeking candidates for its Department of Teacher Education & Foundations Part-time Lecturer Pool. The university is a prominent educational and cultural hub in Southern California's Inland Empire, serving approximately 19,000 students. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in education.
  • California issued certification in K-12 in teaching and/or administrative experience.
  • 10 years of successful teaching experience in the K-12 setting.
  • Familiarity with K-12 educational policies in California.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Commitment to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Passionate about working with student teachers who are themselves English learners.
  • Degree in hand by time of appointment.
  • California issued certification in K-12 in teaching and/or administrative experience.
  • 10 years of successful teaching experience in the K-12 setting.
  • Familiarity with K-12 educational policies in California.

Nice To Haves

  • California-issued certification in teaching.
  • Minimum of 10 years teaching in K-12 setting.
  • Previous supervisory/mentoring experience.
  • Available to work during weekdays from 8 am – 3:30 pm.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in working with student teachers who are themselves English learners.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued.
  • Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise student teachers at school sites on a bi-weekly basis and debrief with them.
  • Mentor student teachers.
  • Conduct mid-term and final evaluations and post their grades in a timely manner.
  • Assist student teachers with the CalTPA.
  • Assist student teachers with the New Literacy Standards.
  • Respond to general questions from students.
  • Participate in the Supervisor Learning Community and Networking.
  • Assist student teachers in dealing with day-to-day problems they may have in the classroom.
