About The Position

The Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation and Counseling at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is seeking applications for its part-time lecture pool in Counseling. This pool supports the Master of Science in Counseling program, which offers concentrations in professional counseling, school counseling, and dual programs, preparing students for PPS credentials and LPCC licensure. The department also offers an undergraduate Minor in Counseling and Social Change. CSUSB is a diverse, Hispanic-serving institution located in Southern California, committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The ideal candidates will have a background in counseling or school counseling, with a particular interest and practice in postmodern counseling approaches emphasizing equity, social justice, restorative justice, and culturally sustaining practices. Bilingual applicants and those with multicultural experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will be responsible for teaching courses in counseling and/or providing high-quality supervision and mentoring to students in their field experience. Responsibilities include planning and delivering instruction, grading, and providing input on student progress. Most courses are taught in person at the San Bernardino campus, with some hybrid or online options available. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and working effectively with faculty, staff, and students.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling or closely related field.
  • Licensure in LPCC, MFT, MSW and/or PPS credential with expertise in counseling and advanced counseling skills.
  • Currently engaged in counseling and/or direct relevant work for clinical counseling intensive courses, such as crisis and trauma informed practices, justice-involved communities, substance use disorders, child and family welfare, disability approaches and neurodivergent populations.
  • For University Supervisor/Clinical Supervisor applicants: applicable California credential (i.e., PPS in Counseling) or licensure (i.e., LPCC) and more than 2 years of experience as a counselor in the field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
