About The Position

The Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation and Counseling at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is seeking applications for its part-time lecturer pool in Counseling. The Master of Science in Counseling program offers concentrations in professional counseling, school counseling, and dual preparation for the PPS credential, LPCC licensure, or both, leading to diverse career opportunities in education and clinical settings. Additionally, the department offers an undergraduate Minor in Counseling and Social Change, which explores the interdisciplinary approach to understanding how social and political contexts shape individual experiences. The ideal candidates will have a background in counseling or school counseling, with a particular interest and practice in postmodern counseling approaches emphasizing equity, social justice, restorative justice, and culturally sustaining practices. Successful candidates will be responsible for teaching courses in counseling and/or providing high-quality supervision and mentoring to students in their field experience. Responsibilities include planning and delivering instruction, grading, and providing input on student progress. Courses are primarily taught in person at the San Bernardino campus, with potential opportunities at Palm Desert. Clinically intensive and supervision courses are in-person, while some didactic courses may be offered in hybrid or online formats. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling or closely related field.
  • Licensure in LPCC, MFT, MSW and/or PPS credential with expertise in counseling and advanced counseling skills.
  • Currently engaged in counseling and/or direct relevant work for clinical counseling intensive courses, such as crisis and trauma informed practices, justice-involved communities, substance use disorders, child and family welfare, disability approaches and neurodivergent populations.
  • For University Supervisor/Clinical Supervisor applicants: Applicable California credential (i.e., PPS in Counseling) or licensure (i.e., LPCC) and more than 2 years of experience as a counselor in the field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities
