About The Position

The Kent School of Social Work invites applications for Part-Time Lecturer (PTL) teaching positions in the MSSW Program. These positions involve teaching in person classes in Research Methodology and Design, Social Justice Policy, and Social Justice Practice. The salary is based on a per credit hour value of the course taught, typically for a 3-credit hour course. Courses are offered in traditional and online settings. This advertisement is effective for six months after the date it is first posted, and applicants will be considered as openings become available for teaching in Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters, as well as the Winter Session. Applicants who are not hired during this period will need to reapply. Non-exempt University employees are not eligible to apply.

Requirements

Master’s degree in social work required.
Two years’ post-masters experience.
Experience in research and/social justice teaching or practice preferred.
Ability to respond to four specific prompts regarding teaching strategies, student-instructor relationships, classroom environment, and teaching adjustments.
Ability to select three specific options related to social work practice and provide examples of implementation or discuss how to promote these activities based on social work practice experience.

Responsibilities

Attend orientation/trainings/liaison meetings 3x per semester.
Submit course syllabus.
Order textbooks or other reading materials.
Provide developmentally meaningful feedback.
Present engaging learning experiences.
Respond to students in a timely manner.
Communicate regularly with designated course chair.
Maintain collegial and respectful relations with members of the UofL community and external stakeholders.
Submit course data and final grades within university deadlines.
Comply with other requests as a part-time lecturer.
