About The Position

The University of Louisville School of Medicine seeks qualified, student-centered educators to serve as Part-Time Lecturers in the Health Professions Education (HPE) Program. The HPE Program prepares current and future educators across medicine, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, public health, and allied health professions to become exceptional teachers, educational leaders, curriculum designers, and scholars. Part-time lecturers provide high-quality instruction in fully online graduate courses, mentor adult learners, facilitate engaging learning experiences, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the program through evidence-based educational practices.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, MD, DO, DNP, PharmD, DDS/DMD, or equivalent terminal degree).
  • Experience teaching or facilitating learning in higher education or clinical education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory and evidence-based instructional practices.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience using online learning platforms (Blackboard)

Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate-level courses within the Health Professions Education curriculum.
  • Deliver asynchronous and/or synchronous instruction using the University's learning management system.
  • Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies that promote active learning and learner engagement.
  • Foster critical thinking, reflection, collaboration, and professional identity development among students.
  • Provide timely, meaningful, and constructive feedback on assignments and assessments.
  • Maintain regular communication with students regarding course progress and expectations.
  • Mentor students in educational scholarship, curriculum design, leadership, and professional development when appropriate.
  • Grade assignments using established program rubrics.
  • Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently.
  • Participate in course assessment and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate academic records in accordance with university policies.
  • Collaborate with Program Director and faculty to review and enhance course content.
  • Assist in updating instructional materials to reflect current best practices in health professions education.
