About The Position

The Department of Teacher Education and StFX Online Learning & Professional Studies invites applications for a Part-time Academic Instructor for the course EDUC 434 - Contemporary Issues in Public Education. This course examines the historical, legal, and philosophical underpinnings of contemporary issues facing public schooling. Goals, purposes, and dilemmas that have affected such facets of education as the structure of Canadian schooling, political and policy making processes, educational law, the work of teachers’ organizations, and educational standards are explored. The course will run from February 12, 2027, to March 13, 2027, and will be delivered in person (Unama'ki) and online. St. Francis Xavier University is located in Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq People. Requirements

  • Background understanding and knowledge of working within MK schools
  • Recognized as exceptional educators in past teaching experience
  • PhD or MEd (or equivalent) with extensive teaching experience
  • Leaders in their fields

  • Mi’kmaw speakers or those who have an understanding of/ some fluency with the language
