About The Position

The College of Health and Human Development is seeking applicants for the part-time job of Instructional Designer. The Instructional Designer partners with clients to develop educational structures; applies learning science principles to the design of innovative and effective learning experiences; integrates strategies for leveraging instructional technology; and collaborates with clients and information/instructional technology staff to resolve issues related to technology use in teaching, including application assessment, content development, deployment methodologies, and consultation on instructional multimedia integration. Requirements

• Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Education, or a related field, plus at least one year of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Demonstrated experience designing and supporting online or hybrid courses.
• Experience with a learning management system (Canvas preferred) and instructional technologies used in higher education.
• Working knowledge of Quality Matters standards and accessibility best practices.
• Strong project management, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation and partnership to faculty or course instructors in the development, design, and integration of instructional structures, solutions, delivery methods, and assessment strategies.
• Assess instructional needs; establish appropriate instructional goals and learning objectives.
• Research and apply pedagogical principles, learning theories, and emerging academic and technology trends in the design of instructional systems to ensure a high-quality, collaborative, and adaptable learning experience.
• Assess and select instructional media, technologies, and software systems to aid in course delivery.
• Partner with faculty/subject matter experts to author course objectives, course content, assignments, learning resources, documentation, and assessments.
• Collaborate with faculty to design outcomes assessment strategies and support data-informed course improvement.
• Collaborate with the design team to improve course platforms and functionality.
• Consult on and support the design and integration of instructional multimedia and interactive learning assets (e.g., short instructional videos, narrated presentations, demonstrations, and other media) in collaboration with multimedia specialists, as appropriate, aligned to learning objectives and accessibility expectations.
• Ensure course materials and learning assets align with internal course design standards, accessibility requirements, and copyright-compliant use of third-party materials.
