About The Position

Montgomery College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated part-time faculty member to teach an Introduction to Ceramics course for the Fall 2026 semester at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. The ideal candidate will exhibit a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to students, and demonstrate the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis, with applications reviewed periodically based on student enrollment needs. Part-time faculty are limited in the number of equivalent semester hours they can teach per semester and academic year.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Studio Art or related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment.
  • Willingness to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
  • Access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without a sponsor.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching experience (instructor of record) at the post-secondary level.
  • Experience with a vast array of Ceramics practices.
  • Familiarity and experience with Interdisciplinary practices.
  • Knowledge of non-western practices.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in Ceramic.
  • Maintain classroom and follow safety guidelines.
  • Monitor and utilize Blackboard.
  • Keep track of student attendance and grades.
  • Communicate with Department Chair and Staff regarding instructional needs.
