About The Position

National University, a veteran-founded, nonprofit institution in San Diego, is seeking part-time faculty for its Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. This role involves conducting Psychiatric–Mental Health Nursing clinicals at placement sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong teaching record or potential, a commitment to adult learners, and will collaborate with the Academic Program Director and other faculty to ensure program quality and student success. The position is based in San Diego, CA, and requires onsite work.

Requirements

  • A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from a regionally accredited institution.
  • At least one year of continuous clinical bedside nursing experience in a Psych-Mental Health inpatient facility preferred, however, outpatient psych-mental health experience will be considered, within the last 5 years, or at least one year of clinical teaching experience within the last 5 years.
  • Must have a current, unencumbered CA Registered Nursing license.

Nice To Haves

  • Terminal degree (Ph.D. in Nursing or DNP) from a nationally accredited or regionally accredited university.
  • 1+ years of higher education teaching experience in a nursing program.
  • Experience teaching adult learners.
  • 1 year of experience in a Psych-Mental Health inpatient facility.

Responsibilities

  • Lead sessions at clinical placement sites.
  • Provide substantive, timely feedback to students on various assessment activities.
  • Maintain a positive, safe, inclusive student-centric learning environment.
  • Complete required tasks on deadlines (e.g., final grades, assessment, grading rubrics, input for grade appeals, etc.).
  • Maintain appropriate professional training and/or scholarly activities, when applicable.
  • Provide feedback to the course lead regarding the course content.
  • Identify at-risk students and collaborate with student services.
  • Perform some indirect patient care in the skills and simulation lab.
