About The Position
National University, a veteran-founded, San Diego-based nonprofit, is seeking part-time faculty for its Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. The Department of Nursing in the School of Health Professions invites applications for faculty to conduct Obstetric & Mother–Baby Nursing clinicals at placement sites. The ideal candidate will have a proven record or potential for excellence in teaching within their field and a commitment to serving the university's diverse adult student body. This role involves collaboration with the Academic Program Director and other faculty to ensure program quality, student engagement, and student success. Some indirect patient care may also be performed in the skills and simulation lab.
Requirements
- A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from a regionally accredited institution.
- At least one year of continuous clinical bedside nursing experience in an acute care setting (Obstetric & Mother–Baby Nursing) within the last 5 years as a RN providing direct patient care, OR at least one year of RN level clinical teaching experience within the last 5 years.
- Must have a current, unencumbered CA Registered Nursing license.
Nice To Haves
- Terminal degree (Ph.D., DNP, or Ed.D.) from a nationally accredited or regionally accredited university.
- 2+ years of higher education teaching experience in a professional nursing program.
- Experience teaching adult learners.
- National certification in specialty area.
Responsibilities
- Lead sessions at clinical placement sites.
- Provide substantive, timely feedback to students on various assessment activities.
- Maintain a positive, safe, inclusive student-centric learning environment.
- Complete required tasks on deadlines (e.g., final grades, assessment, grading rubrics, input for grade appeals, etc.).
- Maintain appropriate professional training and/or scholarly activities, when applicable.
- Provide feedback to the course lead regarding the course content.
- Identify at-risk students and collaborate with student services.
