About The Position

Montgomery College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated part-time faculty member to teach 3D Animation at its Rockville Campus. The ideal candidate will exhibit a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed periodically based on enrollment needs. Part-time faculty may teach a maximum of 11.5 ESH per semester and 23 ESH per academic year, with summer limits of 10 ESH for both sessions combined.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Animation or related field.
  • Experience teaching courses at the college level.
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience working in Animation.
  • Professional industry experience in Animation.
  • Specialized experience with 3D character animation.
  • Willingness to incorporate- and a familiarity with- current trends in new technology.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively mentor and advise students.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Software and Autodesk Maya Software.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment.
  • Willingness to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
  • Access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without a sponsor.
  • Must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).

Nice To Haves

  • Recent teaching experience at a college or university.
  • Teaching experience in Animation.
  • Experience with motion capture performance for animation.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to 2 courses in Animation per semester.
  • Prepare course materials, syllabi; evaluate and grade student assignments.
  • Integrate the use of a learning management system (Blackboard Ultra) and other relevant new technology into instruction where applicable.
  • Teach a varied schedule of courses that may include day/night, early morning, accelerated and virtual courses.
  • Apply culturally relevant pedagogies to the teaching and learning process.
  • Cultivate an inclusive and supportive learning environment that values and respects student diversity.
  • Bring real-world industry experience into the classroom, sharing insights, case studies, and practical applications.
