About The Position

SEFP is seeking a compassionate Part-Time Direct Care Associate to join our residential care team. You will provide supervision, guidance, and support to clients in a residential setting, assisting the Program Manager in maintaining a therapeutic environment, monitoring client progress, and supporting daily living and recovery activities. Since 1971, the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders. SEFP is a licensed residential substance use disorder treatment program (3.5 & 3.1) serving non-pregnant women, pregnant women, recently postpartum women, and their infants. Our gender-specific program provides a safe, structured, and supportive environment, promoting recovery, stabilization, and overall well-being for clients and families.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of experience in direct care, residential treatment, mental health support, or substance use disorder services; CNA certification a plus.
  • Valid Virginia State Driver's License.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a residential care or behavioral health setting.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and supervision in a residential treatment setting.
  • Support clients with daily living skills, infant care, and household activities.
  • Monitor client health, safety, and progress toward recovery goals.
  • Document client interactions and maintain confidential records.
  • Encourage participation in treatment, life skills, and recreational activities.

Benefits

  • Shift Differential: Additional $2.50 per hour for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts worked.
