About The Position
The ETSU Dental Hygiene Program is seeking a PRN dentist to provide clinical instruction and supervision of dental hygiene students in the Dental Hygiene Clinic. Employment is contingent upon student enrollment, program needs, and applicant’s availability on scheduled clinic days each semester. Program needs may vary each semester, so employment is not guaranteed each semester. This posting may remain open to retain a pool of instructors.
Requirements
- Must be licensed dentist in the state of Tennessee
- Current CPR Healthcare Provider certification
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff and patients with diverse backgrounds
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical supervision
- Review patient medical histories
- Evaluate student assessments of new patients
- Supervise local anesthesia injections
- Evaluate radiographs
- Evaluate pathology
- Discuss the need for referral with patients
- Serve as a dental and medical resource for students and dental hygiene faculty and taking the lead in the event of a medical emergency
- Supervise sealant placement and occlusal adjustments
- Assist students with nightguards, etc.
