About The Position

This is a part-time position at the Cherokee County Detention Center, under the supervision of the Associate Director of Adult Education. The instructor will teach subject areas covered in the HSE Tests, prepare lesson plans aligned with College and Career Readiness Standards, provide learner guidance, evaluate student progress, and maintain required documentation and reports. The role also involves planning, organizing, and participating in staff development activities and maintaining a secure classroom environment. The work schedule depends on facility needs but is currently set for Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9 AM to 12 PM, with additional paid planning time.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university preferably in education, math, science, business or a related field.
Teaching and classroom management experience at the secondary or post-secondary level.
Experience in administering standardized tests.
Completion of a bachelor's degree from a college or university.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation students in an open-entry, multi-level classroom.
Knowledge and experience in teaching content for HSE.
Experience working or teaching in a corrections facility.

Responsibilities
