About The Position

NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) is seeking a qualified and passionate part-time faculty member to teach Judo and Self-Defense courses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in martial arts, experience in teaching or coaching, and a commitment to student success and safety. This position involves planning and delivering engaging, inclusive, and skill-based instruction to a diverse student population. Currently hiring for Spring of 2026.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in Judo and/or Self-Defense (e.g., black belt or equivalent certification)
  • Prior teaching, coaching, or instructional experience in martial arts or self-defense
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field
  • Experience teaching in a college or community education setting
  • Familiarity with Canvas or other learning management systems
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned Judo and Self-Defense classes in accordance with NWACC’s curriculum and academic standards
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that promote physical fitness, self-discipline, and personal safety
  • Provide hands-on instruction in techniques, drills, and safety protocols
  • Maintain a safe and respectful learning environment
  • Assess student performance and provide timely feedback
  • Participate in required training and professional development activities
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration
  • Uphold NWACC’s mission and values
