About The Position

Faculty at University of the Potomac play a vital role in the academic institution by delivering high-quality education and contributing to the overall academic development of students. They are responsible for designing and delivering courses, participating in departmental activities, and upholding the values and mission of the university. The Faculty is expected to contribute actively to the academic community and foster an environment of intellectual curiosity and growth.

Requirements

  • Must hold a master’s degree in their relevant field of study.
  • Strong background in teaching and learning methodologies.
  • Relevant professional experience to complement their academic background (depending on the discipline).

Nice To Haves

  • Terminal degree in the relevant field of study is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience in higher education institutions is preferred.
  • Ongoing professional development and participation in workshops, conferences, and other academic events are encouraged to stay up to date with advancements in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging and effective lectures, seminars, and practical sessions for undergraduate, graduate and doctorate students.
  • Design and update course syllabi, learning outcomes, and assessment criteria.
  • Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students, both in and outside the classroom.
  • Support students in their academic and professional pursuits, offering advice and encouragement.
  • Contribute to the academic community through publications, conference presentations, and other/or scholarly activities.
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings, committees, and university-wide initiatives.
  • Contribute to the academic community by sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues.
  • Evaluate students' performance and provide constructive feedback to help them succeed academically.
  • Maintain accurate records of grades and student progress.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in the field and incorporate new knowledge into teaching.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, industry professionals, and the broader academic community to foster collaborative partnerships and promote the university's reputation.
  • Actively participate and be physically available in student achievement events such as graduation ceremonies and other recognitions.
