About The Position

The Parks Technician for the Village of Los Lunas is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to grounds maintenance and park upkeep. This position involves conducting litter control activities, performing semi-skilled maintenance tasks, and assisting with sports field maintenance. The Parks Technician plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, functionality, and aesthetic quality of parks and public spaces within the community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Grounds Maintenance or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance techniques, including weed control, grass trimming, and tree trimming.
  • Ability to operate and maintain common grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and attractive environment.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with team members and the public.
  • Basic computer skills for recording work activities and communicating information.
  • Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to following safety guidelines and maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct litter control activities within assigned areas, ensuring parks and public spaces are clean and free of debris.
  • Perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks, including weed control, grass trimming, and tree trimming, to maintain the appearance of designated areas.
  • Assist with the upkeep and preparation of sports fields, including chalking baseball infields and painting lines on football, baseball, and soccer fields.
  • Operate and maintain equipment and tools used for grounds maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members to efficiently complete assigned tasks and projects.
  • Support special projects, events, and activities related to park maintenance and enhancement.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety concerns, or repairs needed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an organized and safe work environment, following established safety guidelines and practices.
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to improve skills and stay informed about best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and completed tasks.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining the appearance and functionality of community spaces.
