The City of Indianola is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker - Flowers for its Parks Department. Indianola is a growing community south of Des Moines, known for its historic downtown, friendly atmosphere, excellent schools, and access to outdoor activities. The city hosts major events and has a strong trail system and parks. This seasonal position is crucial for maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the city's parks during the summer months.

Requirements

• High school graduation or equivalent
• General knowledge of the following tools: roto-tiller, hedge trimmer, small chain saw, tractor, mower, string trimmer, and sidewalk edger
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Subject to a post-offer drug and alcohol screening and background check

Responsibilities

• Flowerbed preparation and planting
• Weeding, deadheading, pruning, and mulching flower beds, perennials and roses
• Greenhouse maintenance
• Assisting with watering, fertilizing, pruning
• Planting trees, tree maintenance, which includes pruning, wrapping, staking, and assisting with landscaping.
• Follows OSHA procedures to ensure safety policies and procedures are enforced for the protection of the crews, co-workers and public.
