About The Position

The City of Olathe is seeking a Senior Park Maintenance Worker to join their Parks Construction team. This role involves performing a variety of tasks related to park construction and maintenance, including concrete work, framing, roofing, and general repairs. The ideal candidate is energetic, patient, a self-starter, takes pride in their work, and enjoys being outdoors in an environment where each day presents new challenges. The position offers guaranteed 40 hours per week, a central work location, on-the-job training, and assistance with obtaining a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Requirements

  • Two years of construction and/or maintenance experience is required. Equivalent and relevant education may be substituted for experience.
  • A valid driver's license and favorable driving record are required.
  • A Class A commercial driver's license is required within six months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • May also require specialty certification in assigned area.

Responsibilities

  • Performs technical and complex duties including construction of park structures, concrete removal and placement and site grading.
  • Operates heavy machinery including mini excavator, skid steer loader, backhoe; drives a variety of vehicles including trucks, tractors, dump trucks with trailers, and forklift.
  • Maintains a safe job site and work environment following safety standards set forth by City, County, State and Federal agencies.
  • Performs manual labor including lifting, digging, and planting.
  • Assists with daily maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
  • Performs snow removal and may be required to work overtime or respond to emergencies outside of regular hours.
