PARKS MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
About The Position
The Parks Maintenance Technician performs routine unskilled and semi-skilled grounds maintenance using hand tools and light to medium equipment. Duties include maintaining lawns, trees, flower beds, pots, hanging baskets, and other landscaped areas. The employee also cleans and stocks park restrooms, maintains picnic areas and the band shell, removes trash, and helps set up, tear down, and clean up for Town events and festivals. Work takes place indoors and outdoors and involves exposure to hot and cold weather and potential hazards such as noise, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, dust, atmospheric conditions, and oils. The position works under the supervision of the Senior Maintenance Technician. Work is reviewed during and after completion to ensure proper methods and accurate completion of assignments.
Requirements
- Ability to perform routine unskilled and semi-skilled grounds maintenance tasks.
- Ability to use hand tools and operate light to medium equipment.
Responsibilities
- Operate equipment to cut grass, edge, mulch, and fertilize grounds.
- Prune and trim trees, weed, weed-eat, and remove leaves and snow.
- Maintain flower beds, pots, hanging baskets, and other landscaped areas.
- Stock and clean park restrooms.
- Clean and maintain picnic areas and the band shell.
- Remove trash.
- Assist with setup, tear down, and cleaning during Town events and festivals.
