About The Position

The Parks Maintenance Technician works under the general supervision of the Parks Superintendent to maintain parks, athletic fields, and facilities to a high standard for public use. The role includes grounds development and maintenance, preventive and routine maintenance, and supporting the culture of Hutto.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• One year of general maintenance or landscaping experience.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Must be eligible for coverage under the City of Hutto vehicle insurance provider.

Nice To Haves

• One year of parks or grounds maintenance and/or other related experience, such as construction or repair.

Responsibilities

• Maintain park landscapes and grounds through mowing, edging, trimming, sawing, beautifying flower beds, and checking and repairing irrigation.
• Maintain athletic fields by mowing, edging, trimming, watering, preparing infields, aerating, controlling weeds, marking lines, and applying chemicals as needed.
• Conduct daily inspections of restrooms, pavilions, parking lots, playgrounds, and park grounds, including trash removal, facility cleaning, and inventory control.
• Perform routine general maintenance, including painting, general carpentry, fence repair, concrete work, minor plumbing, minor electrical work, and power washing.
• Perform routine maintenance on small engines and heavy equipment, including checking fluid levels and air pressure and cleaning or changing filters as needed.
• Operate commercial equipment, including zero-turn mowers, weed trimmers, sprayers, chainsaws, and heavy-duty equipment such as backhoes and skid steers.
• Support City of Hutto special events through setup, teardown, and other miscellaneous duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
