About The Position

Seeking candidates for Part-Time Parks Maintenance Technician at the City of Brentwood, TN Brentwood Parks Department. The hourly rate for this position is $19.84/hour. Up to 5% salary increase after successful completion of six-month probationary period. Plus: Transportation Allowance up to $1000/year to be paid over 26 pay periods annually. Weekday hours: 4:00 pm - 10:30 pm Weekend hours: 5:30 am - 3:30 pm OR 3:30 pm - 10:30 pm (Includes holidays). The City of Brentwood seeks a dedicated team player to join its Parks team as a part-time Maintenance Technician. As the part-time Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for assisting and directing park patrons, cleaning and managing facilities, collecting and dumping trash, changing light bulbs, security checks, athletic field preparations, blowing of landscaped areas, trails, parking lots and concrete pads, repairing park structures and equipment, and cleaning and maintenance of the playgrounds, restrooms, and shelters. You’ll also help clean workspaces and equipment, inventory control, lost and found inventory, and performing a variety of other tasks as they present themselves. The part-time Maintenance Technician is a part of the Parks and Recreation department, a team responsible for the maintenance and operation of the City’s “state of the art” parks and greenways totaling 1,027 acres located throughout Brentwood. The grounds and facilities provide for opportunities to enjoy social, cultural, athletic and/or nature-oriented activities for the Brentwood community. The City of Brentwood is known for its beautiful parks and greenways, abundant recreational activities, and high standard of living. As a part of the Parks and Recreation team you will play a vital role in helping take care of these valuable community resources.

Requirements

Some experience involving park and program supervision and maintenance is preferred.
Ability to work holidays.
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job will be considered.
Valid Driver’s License is required.
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines, tools, and equipment which includes a mower, edger, chain saw, hand tools, mechanic tools, lawn tools, janitorial tools, etc.
Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials.
Must be able to exert in excess of one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of fifty pounds of force frequently.
Requires high level and ability to compare and or judge the readily observable functional, technical, structural, or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things.
Requires the ability to speak clearly to convey and exchange or direct information. Includes giving assignments and/or directions to co-workers, assistants, other City staff, users and user groups.

Responsibilities

Assist, direct, and communicate with parks patrons.
Enforce routine policies and practices like leash law requirements, risk management, application of all rules and regulations, parking violations, and general security of facilities and grounds.
Perform daily tasks related to park and athletic field cleaning and maintenance.
Help with opening and closing facilities based on schedule.
Occasionally provide help with service and repairs as needed to maintain park facilities.
