About The Position

Performs a wide variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance and upkeep of city parks, trails, open spaces, and related facilities to ensure safe, clean, and attractive public amenities.

Requirements

Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of applicable experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Ability to perform physically demanding labor for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to keep a "Safety First" mindset in all situations.
Basic communication, reading and math skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
Ability to learn proper operation and maintenance of varied equipment such as mowers, sprayers, trimmers, heavy equipment and hand tools.
Keep detailed application logs and daily work journal.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Valid driver's license.
Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in natural open space maintenance, herbicide application, landscape maintenance, heavy equipment operation and general maintenance is preferred, but not required.
Will be required to obtain Utah pesticide applicators license within 30 days, preference may be given to those who are currently licensed.
Must obtain Class B CDL within 12 months of hire, preference may be given to those who hold current CDL.
