About The Position

This position is a manual labor position. Work involves performing parks facilities opening/ closing and maintenance tasks. Responsible for monitoring the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior Parks facilities, such as meeting rooms, restrooms, and parking lots. Responsible for the opening / closing of facilities and facility restrooms as assigned. Responsible for litter removal and janitorial duties within park grounds, parking lots, and inside park facilities. Performs preventive maintenance on Parks and Recreation Department equipment, buildings and structures as required. Operates vehicle in the performance of job duties; must maintain valid driver's license for the duration of employment. May assist with other projects assigned. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to lift heavy objects, and perform manual labor for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
• Ability to perform minor maintenance on parks equipment, building and structures.
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
• At least one (1) year of experience performing manual labor.
• At least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors and the public.
• Ability to utilize common sense understanding to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.

• Must possess a valid Arkansas Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.

• Occasionally required to climb or balance above ground or floor level, taste or smell.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
• Specific vision abilities required include near and far vision, detection of color differences, and ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to determine the correct location of sound.
