About The Position

The Parks Caretaker I position is responsible for maintaining the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) park land and sports facilities, outdoor recreation facilities, trails, and municipality-owned grounds. This role involves routine maintenance for specific projects or specialized areas within parks and recreational facilities. Duties vary by season, including litter collection, snow and ice removal, ice maintenance, and trail grooming in winter, and turf and irrigation maintenance, field maintenance, fence repairs, and general grounds care in summer. The position also supports special events and general facility cleaning and repair. This position is represented by the Public Employees, Local 71, and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union. Employees will be placed at the entrance pay step upon hiring.

Requirements

• Must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States.
• Applicants will be referred and considered in the order of: Internal applicants currently working under the Public Employees (Local 71) Collective Bargaining Agreement, Local union dispatched applicants, External applicants and other current Municipal employees not covered under this agreement.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) park land and sports facilities, outdoor recreation facilities, trails, and municipality-owned grounds.
• Perform routine maintenance on specific projects or specialized areas at parks or recreational facilities.
• Conduct winter duties including litter collection, snow & ice removal, outdoor recreational ice maintenance, trail grooming and maintenance, special event preparation and support, and general grounds and facility cleaning and repair.
• Conduct summer duties including turf and irrigation maintenance; litter collection; athletic and multi-use field maintenance; trail maintenance; park fence and barrier repairs; park shelters, amenities, and equipment cleaning and repair; special event preparation and support; and general grounds and facility care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
