About The Position

Under the supervision of the Park Supervisor or Designee, performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled manual tasks in the maintenance of City cemeteries, park grounds, buildings, and roadways. This role involves a range of duties to ensure the upkeep and presentation of public spaces.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily pass driving record and background investigations.
  • Must be able to work some evenings, weekends, holidays, and be available on short notice.
  • Possession of a High School Diploma or its equivalent is desired.
  • Must be experienced in the operation of 4 x 4 ATVs & mobile carts, 1-ton dump operations, and vehicle operation.
  • Use of modern technology, apps, and wayfinding is also important.

Nice To Haves

  • No software skills needed; however, researching information on your cell phone is important.

Responsibilities

  • Cut grass using a power mower and trimmer, and push and/or riding mower.
  • Rake leaves with hand and power equipment.
  • Water the grass using hoses and sprinklers.
  • Edging sidewalks, with hand tools and power equipment.
  • Assist with setup and teardown of City-sponsored and Recreation Department events.
  • With requested City Services, especially but not limited to, trash barrels, liners, and picnic tables.
  • Maintain stock at work locations and pipe alleys, and keep work areas clean.
  • Pick up fallen tree limbs and twigs.
  • Trims brush as needed.
  • Picks up and collects litter.
  • Empties trash cans.
  • Clean restrooms.
  • Prep pavilions, swap signage, meet guests, and check on reservation logistics.
  • Painting picnic tables, signs, bleachers, and other buildings logistics.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on power and hand tools.
  • May be assigned to drive a City pick-up and small dump truck, assigned to utilize trailers to transport tools, equipment, and/or personnel.
  • May be assigned to assist City workers and other departments.
  • Installs and removes snow fence.
  • Sand removal, by hand tools or power equipment.
  • Minor safety observations of playgrounds, raking EWF into place, shoveling sand to walkways, and notifying supervisor of safety issues.
  • Prepare softball and baseball fields.
  • Keep vehicles cleaned and organized.
  • Put away equipment at the end of the shift.
  • Could be reassigned to different departments as necessary.
