About The Position

Serve Virginia's veterans and their family members by ensuring they receive the benefits, support, quality care, and recognition they have earned through service and sacrifice.

Requirements

• Familiarity with all cemetery grounds maintenance procedures and practices.
• Knowledge of all operations including garden/section maps, pins and gravesite numbering system for laying out each site.
• Awareness of preventative maintenance in relationship to the cemeteries light and heavy equipment.
• Ability to operate power hand tools.
• Ability to perform plastering, plumbing, roof repairs and carpentry.
• Ability to lift/maneuver a 220-pound grave marker with the help of one additional person.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Ability to escort visitors to gravesites in all types of weather.
• Ability to work during funeral services in all types of weather including rain, snow, ice, extreme heat and cold.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of the funeral industry and operation of cemeteries.
• Knowledge of NCA (National Cemetery Association) rules and regulations regarding eligibility of veterans and dependents.
