About The Position

Serve Virginia's veterans and their family members by ensuring they receive the benefits, support, quality care, and recognition they have earned through service and sacrifice.

Requirements

Familiarity with all cemetery grounds maintenance procedures and practices.
Knowledge of all operations including garden/section maps, pins and gravesite numbering system for laying out each site.
Awareness of preventative maintenance in relationship to the cemeteries light and heavy equipment.
Ability to operate power hand tools.
Ability to perform plastering, plumbing, and roof repairs.
Ability to perform carpentry.
Ability to lift/maneuver a 220-pound grave marker with the help of one additional person.
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
Ability to escort visitors to gravesites in all types of weather.
Ability to be present for funeral services in all types of weather including rain, snow, ice, extreme heat and cold.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of the funeral industry and operation of cemeteries.
Knowledge of NCA (National Cemetery Association) rules and regulations regarding eligibility of veterans and dependents.
