About The Position

City Theatre Company, Pittsburgh’s leading professional theater dedicated to new plays, seeks to hire a roster of PARKING LOT ATTENDANTS. These seasonal, flex-time non-exempt (hourly) positions require evening and weekend availability during City Theatre performance dates, September 2026-June 2027. Parking Lot Attendants welcome and assist audience members attending performances, including collection of parking vouchers, credit card, and cash payments for nightly parking. City Theatre operates surface parking lots with a total of approximately 50 available spots for patron use. Employees filling this seasonal role should be prepared to work in different types of weather situations, with average shifts of 2-4 hours at a time. On average, there are over 200 events and performances each year that utilize the parking lot.

Requirements

  • Excellent grasp of strong customer service and a commitment to “radical hospitality” to ensure a safe, pleasant, and enjoyable experience for arts-goers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an “audience-first” approach.
  • Punctuality and reliability to meet a pre-determined schedule.

  • Frequent movement, standing for extended periods, walking on concrete, and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
  • Most of each shift will be spent outdoors, in all types of weather.
  • Evenings and weekend shifts almost entirely (with occasional Wednesday matinees).

Responsibilities

  • Tending the parking lot starting 90 minutes prior to showtime and greet and assist audience members with self-parking after they arrive for their ticketed performance.
  • Ensure that the lot is clear of trash prior to arrival of guests and that it is safe for their use (may include some light snow removal, salting, etc).
  • Meet with box office staff daily to confirm the number of anticipated pre-paid parking receipts and identify total number of available spaces that can be sold at the gate.
  • Collect payment for any at-gate transactions and report sales to Box Office staff daily.
  • Secure and inspect lot once performances have begun.
  • Direct traffic from parking lot following the end of the performance.
  • Inspect and close lot at end of shift.
