About The Position

Under direct supervision, will assist in enforcing local vehicle parking ordinances and laws. This is a part-time, at-will, position that receives direct supervision from a Community Development Manager and may work up to 15 hours per week. The schedule may include early morning hours, weekends, and holidays depending on department needs. This position will work a varied schedule that may include early mornings beginning at 1:30 a.m., weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade
  • At least one year of public contact experience.
  • A valid California driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to complete the 40-hour PC 832 course within six months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Depending on assignment, First Aid/CPR certificate may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Patrols City streets and neighborhoods to enforce parking control laws and regulations, write and/or issue citations or warnings in accordance with city regulations, ordinances, and procedures.
  • Responds to parking violations and complaints.
  • May interact with public during the course of enforcing parking regulations.
  • Report criminal activity, graffiti, vandalism, and animal control needs.
  • May assist with various code enforcement activities.
  • Safely operate a city vehicle
  • Knowledge and use of standard office practices and procedures, including the use of computer applications related to the work.
  • Work a varied schedule that may include early mornings beginning at 1:30 a.m., weekends, and holidays.
  • Communicate clearly with staff and the public.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including City staff and the public.
  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as required.
