About The Position

The Parking Compliance Officer ensures the safe, orderly, and effective use of the university’s parking resources by monitoring campus parking areas, enforcing parking regulations, and supporting compliance with permit and payment systems. The role exists to ensure that customers have paid for parking as required and that any vehicles not in compliance are tagged in accordance with established policies and procedures. By maintaining fair access to parking, promoting traffic and pedestrian safety, and providing professional front-line service, the position supports the integrity and sustainability of the campus parking program. Compliance Officers will be responsible for monitoring all lots at the north campus location, the 61 Charles Street lot and DC’s Whitby Campus along with any other lot(s) the College or the University may introduce in the future.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License (Class G) with clear Driver’s Abstract, and passport is required
  • Up to and including one year of experience
  • Prior experience in parking compliance
  • Experience using LPR technology
  • Conflict resolution & de-escalation
  • Technology proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, and ability to operate tablets, mobile phone and radio
  • Attention to detail & accuracy

Nice To Haves

  • MLEO certification preferred
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Previous experience in a campus setting would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of parking bylaws & regulations would be considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Drives a vehicle equipped with LPR to support the compliance of parking regulations on University/College property
  • Coordinates and executes routine vehicle patrols of the University/College parking lots
  • Issues parking violation notices and tow warnings when warranted
  • Identifies fraudulent or stolen permits and pay display slips, document incident reports
  • Attends vehicle towing / booting processes as needed, documenting concerns including pre-existing vehicle damage
  • Acts as first point of contact for customers in the field with parking concerns including but not limited to wayfinding, payment options, ticket concerns, immobilized or towed vehicles
  • Utilizes systems in place to investigate accounts, troubleshoot and request service repairs or maintenance as required
  • Conducts vehicle maintenance including fueling, tracking mileage, plugging into power source, coordinating cleaning and general maintenance
  • Troubleshoot LPR equipment in the field
  • Monitor parking lots and tend to basic signage issues (i.e., knocked down or snow-covered signs)
  • Inspect and ensure communication radios are working effectively
  • Monitor supply inventory and submit concerns
  • Observe and report safety concerns, equipment issues (e.g., pay stations, signage, LPR systems), and operational irregularities, ensuring accurate documentation to support effective parking management
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation
  • Monitor and communicate safety hazards
  • Provide clear, respectful explanations of parking rules and violations
  • Offer guidance and problem-solving support for payment or permit issues
  • Use de-escalation and customer-service techniques during difficult interactions
  • Participate as required in appeals process
  • Assist with directing traffic and managing vehicle flow during high-volume periods or campus events
  • Support event logistics by implementing temporary parking arrangements and responding to changing conditions
