About The Position

Under general supervision, performs work of light difficulty involving enforcement of applicable ordinances pertaining to parking violations on City streets, parking ramps and parking lots, setup for special events parking, monitor parking area environment for maintenance and cleanliness. This position will remain open until filled.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Be available to work a varied work schedule including some evenings and weekends.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain throughout duration of employment.
  • Must pass a physical examination and background check as prescribed by the city.
  • Understand and carry out verbal and written directions.
  • Work efficiently unsupervised.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Understand and interpret rules and regulations.
  • Think and act quickly in emergencies.
  • Good Knowledge of: Computer programs related to data entry, reporting, and text.
  • Principles of customer service.
  • Competent Skill in: Interpreting and enforcing regulations with firmness, tact, and impartiality.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships parking customers, general public and city officials.
  • Verbal, written and electronic communications.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly inspect the entire parking facilities for burned out lightbulb replacement and safety issues.
  • Regularly check the operation of elevators.
  • Regularly checks all parking access control equipment and reports damage or malfunction to Parking Supervisor.
  • Work includes light cleaning of areas in parking ramps for litter and debris.
  • Light snow removal when necessary.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Issues citations through automated system for over time parking and improper parking in the downtown Davenport area bordered by Iowa Street to Gaines Street and River Drive to 5th Street. Including: Redstone Ramp, River Center Ramp, Harrison Street Ramp, CBQ Lot, Florian Keen Lot, Freight House Complex, Library Lot and Union Station two-hour limit wherein the vehicle must be moved from the block face.
