This position is located at Mammoth Spring State Park, one of Arkansas's most significant natural and cultural heritage sites. The park features one of the largest springs in the world, flowing at an average of over nine million gallons per hour. In addition to its extraordinary natural resources, the park includes a historic train depot, a historic dam, and the former hydroelectric plant, each representing important periods in regional development and state history. The area also holds meaningful Native American cultural significance. These natural, historical, and cultural resources require thoughtful stewardship, protection, and interpretation. The Park Superintendent I plays a vital role in preserving these assets while helping visitors understand and appreciate their importance. The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism has three major divisions: Arkansas State Parks, Arkansas Heritage and Arkansas Tourism. Arkansas State Parks manages 52 state parks and promotes Arkansas as a tourist destination for people around the country. Arkansas Heritage preserves and promotes Arkansas’s natural and cultural history and heritage through four historic museums and four cultural preservation agencies. Arkansas Tourism improves the state’s economy by generating travel and enhancing the image of the state.
