Park Resource Ranger (Seasonal) - Keystone State Park
About The Position
The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is seeking a personable, ambitious, and reliable professional to join the team as a seasonal Park Resource Ranger at Keystone State Park. This role is an extraordinary opportunity to play a vital role in enhancing park operations and outdoor recreation, while maintaining safe conditions for visitors. The position focuses on supporting visitor safety, maintaining park facilities, and protecting the natural resources throughout Keystone State Park. You will interact with guests, respond to emergencies, and complete tasks that keep the park safe and enjoyable.
Requirements
- Possession of an active motor vehicle license
- Ability to obtain valid certification in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR approved by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent within 60 days of employment
- Meet the PA residency requirement
- Ability to perform essential job functions
- Pass a background investigation
- Satisfactory criminal history reports including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance (conditional offer of employment)
Responsibilities
- Guide visitors away from hazardous conditions and provide information about park rules and recreational areas
- Check buildings, trails, and park grounds for safety and maintenance needs
- Respond to accidents, administer first aid or CPR, and notify emergency personnel when required
- Present park information to community groups and assist with educational programs
- Staff the office to answer questions, register campers, and prepare reports and correspondence
- Perform light maintenance and assist with tasks such as trail marking, waste management, and safe equipment operation
