About The Position

The Part-Time Park Ranger position is a year-round role, working between 20–25 hours per week. This position requires availability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, evenings, and weekends, based on operational needs. Work hours may vary. The hiring range for this position is $17.20 - $20.56 per hour. Initial placement for new employees is customarily at entry level through 35% percentile. Pay grade for this position is 11. You must be at least 18 years of age or older to be employed as a Park Ranger with Cabarrus County Active Living and Parks. Performs responsible skilled work involving a variety of assignments at the County and school parks. Work is performed under the regular supervision of a Park Program Manager. Daily guidance and direction is provided by Senior Park Rangers. Direction is provided to Recreation Facility Operators and Community Service Workers.

Requirements

Requires graduation from high school and some experience in recreation, parks, or other public contact work.
Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina.
Position is a safety-sensitive position as defined by the Drug Free Workplace Policy.
Possession of current CPR, AED, and first aid certifications.
Some knowledge of the state laws and local ordinances governing park and recreational areas.
Ability to enforce rules and regulations in a firm and courteous manner.
Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Ability to prepare detailed reports.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, subordinates, and the general public.
